NMS Statement of Purpose

Music and the arts are not a frill: they are the necessary portion of a formula that makes us well-rounded human beings. We understand fully that many of our Band students will not go on to major in music. One does not need to be a music major to realize the impact that music can have on a person once they have graduated from high school and college. Music and the Arts are your gateway to an understanding of life in a greater sense. Through participation you will love and hate, laugh and cry, be raised to incredible heights by beautiful music, and sunk into the deepest depths by the anguish of a saddened composer. We are pleased to be here to help with and be a part of your musical journey.

NMS Band Parent Volunteers Needed

At NMS Band, we recognize the importance of our Band Parents and other family members. Without your support and hard work there simply would be no supportive resources for NMS Band. Not to mention all the helping hands during concerts, mini-van space, and help with transporting our children and their instruments to off-site performances. Below are NMS Band's most current requests for volunteers.  

Major Help Needed With Cheesecake Delivery - Wednesday, November 16, 2011

Our NMS Band Parent has had a very successful Cheesecake Fundraiser again this year. Thanks to our experienced band parents such as Maria Martinez and Melanie Terrell, we are prepared when a very large delivery truck pulls up on Wednesday, November 16. 

Delivery is confirmed for the time frame of 7am - 9am, as the company gives a 2 hour time range.  Maria is scheduling a time out of work and her own classes to spearhead this project and is hoping that 2 or 3 other volunteers can also be there for the initial delivery and set-up of the system for fulfilling each child's individual cheesecake order. 

We need several people to be trained from the start on the order packing process so that we can help organize the other volunteers and students that assist throughout the day.  

If you are not available to be there for the initial truck delivery and system set-up, volunteers are still needed throughout the day.  If you can help with the initial delivery or the packing of the orders please mail Maria Martinez directly: mmartinez.pers@gmail.com

Friday, November 18 - NMS Band Movie Night. 

 Volunteers are needed to assist with the NMS Band Parent "Movie Night."  We need parent/volunteers starting at 3:30pm through 8pm, to do everything from set-up to helping with the refreshments. 

Below are additional times during which NMS Band Volunteers are needed:

- Monday, December 12 - 9:30am - 12:30pm for the first beginning band rehearsal.  

- Monday, December 12 - 4:30pm - 7:30pm for the Advanced Band Concert.

- Tuesday, December 13 - 9:30am - 11am for the final Beginning Band rehearsal.

- Tuesday, December 13 - 4:30pm - 7:30pm for the Beginning Band Concert. 

- Wednesday, December 14,9am - 4:30pm two volunteers needed for daytime school performances of all bands, including Beginning, Advanced, and Jazz Band.
